La cuarta producción de NIN conteniendo dos álbumes se llama "The Fragile." Produjo tres sencillos, uno lanzado en EE.UU. ("The Day the World Went Away"), uno en el Reino Unido ("We´re In This Together") lanzado como un sencillo de 3 partes, y por último, uno en Japón y Australia ("Into the Void"). Videos para "We´re In This Together," "Into the Void," y Starfuckers Inc." (retitulada "Starsuckers, Inc.") fueron presentados en EE.UU. "The Fragile" fue seguido por el álbum de remixes "Things Falling Apart."
